Our Origins
Paws and Purrs Rescue was founded with one simple mission: to save animals who have no one else.
Based in Hekpoort, Gauteng, we focus on vulnerable kittens, injured animals, abandoned pets, and neonatal animals requiring specialised care.
Every animal that comes through our doors receives patience, love, and the chance at a better life.
Building Something More
Always wanting better future for the animals in our care, we made the difficult decision to leave behind the comforts of a normal life and start again on a 32 hectare.
In the early days, the farm was completely undeveloped, so we lived in tents, dedicating everything we had to creating a safe space for the animals that depended on us.
Today, we continue that journey from our wood cabin, slowly building a sanctuary where more animals can be rescued, healed, and given the life they deserve.
A Safe Haven
Some animals cannot be rehomed due to trauma, behavioural challenges, or lifelong medical conditions.
But that shouldn’t be the end of their story, every animal deserves warmth, kindness, and a place where they can feel truly at home.
For them, our sanctuary becomes a permanent home, a place where they are safe, understood, and loved for the rest of their lives.
In a calm and nurturing environment, they are given the time and understanding they need to rebuild trust and begin to feel safe again.
More Than Cats & Dogs
Our sanctuary is also home to rescued farm animals including donkeys, geese, and chickens — all living safely under our care.
